The "Insider's" Frustration
For over 17 years of offering services in the Finance, Accounting and Administration of different organizations, there has been a common thing that came out. We’ve had the priviledge to work on the inside of some of the most complex industries: audit firms, renewable energy, mining, automotive, health facilities, NGOs and so on. We've managed books, planned audits, interacted with Revenue Authorities, mediated in complex disputes also controlled credit across Kenya, Tanzania, and outside the region as well.
In most interactions and encounters, we have seen similar stories. Business owners were running on a mess of disconnected databases, manual data entries that brought about compliancce issues and inacurate reports or delayed reports. Some sales data had to be manually re-entered, wasting dozens of hours. Some decision makers were making gut-feel decisions because their financial reports were always late or unavailable.
Some of the organizations were leaking cash and didn't even know where from. We were the people who were trying to make sense of those chaos. And frankly, it was frustrating.
The "Aha!" Moment
We realized the real problem wasn't just the bookkeeping or compliancce with Revenue Authorities. It was the systems. The tools everyone was using were broken, or they just didn't talk to each other. Talk about incomplete records, manual data entry or missing documents, delayed payments or missing debtors records among other chaos.
The "aha" moment was realizing that we couldn't fix a 21st-century systems problem with a 20th-century way of doing things. We had to learn how to fix them. So, we spent the next 5+ years training on web and software development, building over 20 websites, and developing our own payroll and POS software, developing budgeting applications, as well as collaborating with other existing solutions in the market.
